Originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil, pianist (and chemical engineer) Guilherme Lopes holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Bowling Green State University and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma. He has presented at the MTNA Collegiate Chapter Symposium and the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, and his work has been accepted for presentation at the North Texas International Piano Symposium 2024 and the MTNA National Conference 2025. He has studied piano under the instruction of Cristina Capparelli Gerling, Solungga Liu, and Igor Lipinski, and piano pedagogy with Barbara Fast, J. P. Murphy, and Cole Burger. Guilherme Lopes is excited to join the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Fall 2024 as an adjunct instructor of piano, where he will be teaching applied and group piano.
